Wood warbler

Phylloscopus sibilatrix

Interesting facts: The wood warbler livens up spring in our beech and mixed forests with its song. At the same time, it can hardly be recognised with its yellow-green-white plumage in the light foliage. It skilfully builds a round nest from stalks, which it hides well in the low-growing shrubs. The bird builds a ladder to the nest using twigs. The species feeds on insects, larvae and spiders, occasionally also berries.

Characteristics: Greenish plumage with light abdomen and yellow throat. Dark crown, eyes and lore, distinctive supercilium and eye stripe

Body length: Around 10 cm (smaller than a sparrow)

Distribution: Woods, edges of forests, park
