Green finch

Interesting facts: The green finch is commonly found in towns as a typical hedge and shrub breeder. With its bright yellow feathers in the wings and tail and its trilling song, it reminds us a little of a canary. The bird is purely vegetarian. Seeds, fruits, berries and buds are on its menu. Even the nestlings are fed pre-softened seed muesli.

Characteristics: Olive-green overall impression, males more brightly coloured than the females, which are more grey-green; yellow wing patch; powerful, horn-coloured beak; tail forked at the end      

Body length: Less than 20 cm (sparrow length)

Distribution: Mixed forests, edges of woods, copses, parks, cemeteries, gardens, often in urban areas
